TRAFFIC RULES IN HUNGARY

It would be a pity if your trip to the MotoGP race in Hungary would come with a fine. Check out our tips on how to enjoy the MotoGP race at Balaton Park Circuit without extra costs.

Driving Side

Drive on the right side of the road and overtake on the left.

Seat Belts

Seat belts are mandatory for all passengers, both in the front and back seats.

Speed Limits

  • Urban areas: 50 km/h
  • Highways: 130 km/h
  • Country roads: 90 km/h
  • Residential areas or school zones may have lower limits, so be attentive to signs.

Alcohol Limit

Hungary enforces a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol; drivers cannot have any alcohol in their system.

Lights

Dipped headlights must be used day and night outside city limits, even in clear weather.

Use of Mobile Phones

Using a mobile phone while driving is prohibited unless using a hands-free system.

Child Safety

Children under 150 cm must sit in an appropriate child seat. Infants under 3 years must be placed in a rear-facing car seat, and children over 3 must use booster seats if required by height or weight.

Roundabouts

Vehicles inside the roundabout have the right of way. Always signal your exit.

Toll Roads

Highways and motorways in Hungary require a valid e-vignette (electronic toll) for use, which can be purchased online or at petrol stations. Ensure to buy the right category for your vehicle before entering toll roads.

You can buy the e-vignette here.

Parking

Park only in designated areas. Unauthorised parking can result in fines or your car being towed.
